Kuala Lumpur Hawker Stall Street Food

Posted on March 2, 2011February 9, 2014 by Valerie Conners

I know I raved about Penang’s street food, but it’s well worth noting that Kuala Lumpur did itself proud, as well. The highlight was the Imbi Market, a morning wet market with oodles of yummy food stalls.

For dinner, a pop-up restaurant in Chinatown offers a foil wrapped SPICY fish medley: prawns, stingray, clams and squid with some okra for good measure.

Man, it seems like we went to the wrong part of Malaysia…Scott and I were in Malaysian Borneo for much of our honeymoon last summer and have never tasted worse food anywhere in the world. Though your pictures are making me seriously hungry!

oh no! I wonder if Borneo just has a different culinary tradition? I honestly have to say that except for Hanoi street food, Malaysian was really truly our best food on the trip. Crazy spicy, loads of flavor – just plain fabulous. Looks like you and Scott will simply have to plan a return trip!

I love your mom’s posts Val! Very sweet. And some of the dishes do look a little intense — like momala says, you’ve gone native! Best to you & Senor Nanji.

Val, the pictures you took are so incredable that I can only compare them to what a professional photographer would take.
